What Is Respiration?

The energy that we use as living organisms must come from somewhere, which is described in the process of respiration.

In this lesson we will look at respiration. Respiration is the process of making energy in cells.

Respiration is the process of making energy. It is an exothermic reaction. This energy is needed for living processes like moving, keeping warm and for chemical reactions to occur that make large molecules.

You'r body stores energy in this molecule, containing adenosine and phosphates. What is the name of this molecule?

A) CTP B) GTP C) ATP

When is ATP made?

Cellular respiration makes energy. This energy is stored in the molecule ATP. When energy is needed in cells to build large molecules, they take their energy from ATP which is then used up.
