Vector Arithmetic

We can add, subtract, multiply and divide vectors to create new, resultant vectors.

We can use arithmetic to add, subtract, multiply and divide vectors. As a result, we form new vectors which we can visualise on a set of coordinate axes.

The column vector (56)\binom{5}{6} means...

We can add column vectors by adding their horizontal values and adding their vertical values.

Similarly, we can subtract vectors by subtracting the top and bottom numbers.

What is [(25)(34)]+[(48)+(61)][\binom{2}{5}-\binom{3}{4}]+[\binom{4}{-8}+\binom{6}{1}]?

We can also multiply vectors by a number by multiplying each individual value in the vector by that number.
